The German weighed down metallic ingredient kit, Rage, originally formed in the early '80s, and although the chemical group has issued albums on a steady basis ever since, lead story singer/bassist Peter "Peavy" Wagner is the only original extremity still in attendance. First known as Avenger, the grouping issued a pair of recordings (Entreaty of Steel and Depraved to Black) before switch their mention to Rage, to avoid confusion with a British band of the like mention. 1986's Reign of Fear signaled the group's first album to be released under their new key, as they continued on in the same heavy hitting musical direction on subsequent releases; although they used some orchestral flourishes on their late-'90s observational albums Glossa Mortis (1996) and 13 (1999).

Denmark's Hatesphere is one of a handful of bands reigniting the flame of '80s speed metal by way of the alleged Scandinavian neo-thrash effort (spearheaded by the likes of Arch Enemy and the Haunted). Started as Cauterized in 1993 by Danish highschool chums Claus Nielsen (vocals), Peter Lyse Hansen (guitar), Frantz Dhin (guitar), and Jesper Moesgaard (drums), the chemical group underwent assorted transformations (promptly adopting the new byname of Necrosis and continually exchanging force) over the ensuing x, issuing several heavily traded demos along the way.

Finally stabilizing into the lineup of Hansen, Moesgaard, vocaliser Jacob Bredahl, guitar player Ziggy, and bassist Mikael Ehlert Hansen, the new renamed Hatesphere constitute a home with Italy's Scarlet Records for the sacking of their eponymous debut album in 2000, and 2002's Bloodred Hatred. The latter saw the surrogate of Moesgaard with new drummer Morten Toft Hansen (that's correct, another Hansen), only otherwise held steady in the band's portion methamphetamine hydrochloride, part death metal, and part neo-thrash cross style, gaining them a belittled following along the way. But on that point were more changes ahead for Hatesphere, wHO, subsequently replacement Ziggy with guitar player Henrik Jacobsen and welcoming yet another new drummer in Anders Gyldenøhr, managed only an EP named Something Old, Something New in 2003. They returned to full effect in 2004, however, unleashing their potent third album, Ballet of the Brute, in North America through and through noted alloy indie Nuclear Blast Records.

Killers name third LP 'Day And Age'?

The Killers have reportedly named their third LP Day And Age.

Singer Brandon Flowers has claimed that the title is a possibility for the follow-up CD to their 2006 number matchless Sam's Town.

However, a representative for the group insisted that the name is not confirmed.

The words 'Day And Age' are taken from the lyrics in a new track from the Las Vegas band called 'Neon Tiger'.

It was one of two new songs previewed at a recent intimate show in New York's Highline Ballroom. The other tune, 'Spaceman', is rumoured to be the group's lead single.

The Killers headline Reading and Leeds festivals later this month. The album is scheduled for release in November.

Price, Levine, Floyd, Gaddes to get NEA honors

Soprano Leontyne Price, conductor James Levine, composer Carlisle Floyd and administrator Richard Gaddes will be the initial recipients of the National Endowment for the Arts Opera Honors.

The awards, patterned after the NEA Jazz Masters honors that were established in 1982, will be handed out during a ceremony Oct. 31 at the Harman Center for the Arts in Washington.

Speaking at a news conference to announce the prizes, tenor Placido Domingo said he hopes it's a step toward establishing "the Oscars of the opera."

What would they be called?

"The Mozarts," he suggested. "The Verdis?"

NEA Chairman Dana Gioia said only living Americans will be eligible for the NEA honors. While Domingo was born in Spain, he helped launch the awards because he is general director of the Washington National Opera and the Los Angeles Opera.

Price was among the top American sopranos and a breakthrough African-American singer, starring at the Metropolitan Opera from 1961 to '85. Levine has been the leading force at the Met as chief conductor and then music director since 1973, and in 2004 he became music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Floyd is best known for composing "Susannah," "Of Mice and Men" and "Cold Sassy Tree." Gaddes is general director of the Santa Fe Opera and in 1976 founded the Opera Theater of St. Louis.

Gioia said authorization for the honors was given by Congress in legislation that was signed by President Bush. Gioia said the United States had always been shy about national honors for living artists, and that the country should be more active in celebrating its artistic heritage.

He wanted the honors to be specific to opera, not to classical music in general.

"You don't want to lose focus," he said.

Grey Partners with Tony Bennett in Music Seminar at Cannes

Living Legend Talks about the Importance of Music in Brand Communications
at Second Annual Seminar

NEW YORK, June 9 -- Grey New York announced today that its
Second Annual Music Seminar with Living Legends will feature music luminary
Tony Bennett at the preeminent music seminar at the Cannes Advertising
Festival. "Talking Music with Tony Bennett," on Wednesday, June 18 (12
noon, Cannes time) at the Debussy, follows last year's popular seminar with
John Legend and '60s folk rock star Donavan.

In Grey's annual seminar on music and its place in marketing
communications, Columbia Recording Artist Tony is joined by his son and
manager, Danny Bennett, who has expertly guided Tony's extraordinary career
as President of RPM Productions in New York, in what should be one of the
most fascinating and informative hours in the whole Cannes week.

Leading the panel from Grey will be moderator Tim Mellors, Worldwide
Chief Creative Director & Worldwide Vice Chairman Grey Group, and Josh
Rabinowitz, SVP/Director of Music, Grey New York, who also is a columnist
for Billboard Magazine's "With the Brand."

"The word genius is thrown around in advertising like confetti," said
Tim Mellors, multiple Cannes Lion winner for over 20 years. "This is a
chance to hear the real thing. No living popular singer has the pedigree,
panache and experience of Tony Bennett, as well as the shrewd and informed
insight into how music is marketed and made. Grey's seminar is a
one-and-only opportunity to hear one of the greats in person. You'd have to
be mad to miss it."

Danny Bennett, to whom Tony Bennett's incomparable career longevity and
unprecedented widespread appeal with all generations of audiences is widely
attributed, commented on what advertisers might learn from this seminar,
"Representing Tony Bennett, who is the embodiment of integrity and artistic
excellence, to the advertising community has been an extraordinary
responsibility. As I say, I don't handle a career, I manage a legacy. We
have chosen with great care the right partnerships and through these shared
commitments have navigated successfully the fine line between 'art and
commerce'."

About the music's relevance to advertising, Josh Rabinowitz said,
"Advertising is becoming a new form of the music label. Any day now, we
will see the most popular song in America, as well as around the world,
come out of a brand's advertising, as opposed to radio or a "record"
release."

About Tony Bennett

Tony Bennett is revered internationally as a performer who exemplifies
a dedication and passion for his artistry that has underscored a career of
unparalleled excellence and longevity. Through his sold-out concerts,
Grammy winning recordings that have reached platinum status and Emmy award
winning television specials, he has communicated and connected with
audience that defy generational or demographic boundaries. He is living
proof that if you do what you love most in life, there is no limit to what
can be achieved, and with Tony Bennett you can be assured that "the best is
yet to come."

About Danny Bennett

Danny Bennett, President of RPM Productions in NYC, is known in the
entertainment industry for his broad vision and his ability to expertly
balance the creative integrity of the artist he represents within the new
world of marketing demands we face today. With his deep appreciation and
understanding of branding music as an important driver, he is constantly
reinventing, innovating and pushing the fine line between art and commerce.
He has not only been the guiding force in developing Tony Bennett's
extraordinary career, but as an artist manager has consulted for a myriad
of recording artists. As an Emmy award winning producer, Danny Bennett has
created music television programming, including the NBC special, "TONY
BENNETT: AN AMERICAN CLASSIC" directed by Rob Marshall, which received 7
Emmy Awards in 2007 as well as the long running music series "LIVE BY
REQUEST" for A&E.

Estelle Withdraws Duffy / Adele Comments

Estelle has withdrawn her comments about Duffy and Adele made earlier this year.

The singer originally slammed the music press for favouring names like those two white female artists, instead of covering black soul singers.

She told The Guardian, "How the hell is there not a single black person in the press singing soul? Adele ain't soul. She sounds like she heard some Aretha records once, and she's got a deeper voice - that don't mean she's soul."

Estelle has now spoken out about those quotes, saying her words were twisted into sounding like she was lashing out at white vocalists.

She now says, "They asked about the genre, and I spoke about the genre - and they took it into a race thing. The interesting thing for me is that they never mentioned that I thought Amy Winehouse is soul."

"I love Duffy, Adele - I don't have any ill feelings," Estelle added. "Me and Adele are cool. I have no beefs."

Elliot explains Timbaland "chemistry"

Missy Elliott has said that she will always work with producer Timbaland because they have a "chemistry".

Timbaland only worked on two tracks on Elliot's last LP The Cookbook, but the female singer claimed there would never come a time where they cease to work together.

She told Billboard: "People always ask if we're still working together, and the answer is we will always work together.

"He's always going to be involved, even if it is just on one record.

"I respect and honour what he says. It's deeper than this music industry thing for Timbaland and I. There's a chemistry between us that will never leave."

Elliot's seventh studio album Block Party is released in September.

Cheryl Cole Calls Louis Walsh a Rubbish Boss on First Day as X Factor Judge

Cheryl Cole started X Factor filming off with bang yesterday -- calling fellow judge Louis Walsh a rubbish boss.

The pint-sized Girls Aloud singer, 24, took the cheeky swipe at her ex-manager when a band began praising him at an audition.

A source reveals, "The contestants said they wanted to have Louis as a boss and Cheryl piped up and joked 'No you don't!'

"With a grin on her face she told them Louis was a rubbish manager - obviously in reference to when he was in charge of Girls Aloud.

"Other than that, the judges have been getting on well. There's lots of smiling and joking and Cheryl was playing her part and being vocal about the acts she liked and disliked."

Cole, who shot to fame after appearing on Popstars: The Rivals six years ago, showed up to her auditions eager to impress Irish Louis. Months later she was put into Girls Aloud, who went on to score 18 consecutive top 10 hits. He stopped managing them two years ago to concentrate on his other bands and TV work.

Cole is Sharon Osbourne's replacement, after the 55-year-old rock matriarch quit the ITV show due to her feud with Dannii Minogue.
